If that's the case you need to consider a wyatts and modify the action a little or go to a aics 308 mag without binder plate or a wsm mag. I run a 308 w/o binder plate in my rifle and can get 4 rounds in the mag at 2.950 COAL. I spread the feed lips out enough to run the cartridge smoothly and it call it good. I do spread the front of the feed lips a little more then the back so the cartridge tips up a little and it cycles very well.
Is this only about the Tikka or actions in general? If actions in general then you have 3 choices, SA, Medium, LA. They all work just fine. The issue with a short action is if you are using a standard stock with a internal mag or restricted mag to the 2.8ish COAL.
