Those are some lofty numbers for either of those rounds. Just because you can cram enough powder in the case to make those speeds and the bolt still opens after you fire it, doesnt mean its smart to do. 3000fps from a 140 is gonna be way over 62k cup pressure. The standard chamber in the creed is built for accuracy. The freebore is .0005 over .264 so the bullets dont get out of shape before they contact the rifling. The straight wall case helps to keep the bullet square with the bore if you have a loose factory chamber. The 30* shoulder gives a flatter surface to headspace off of, make that part easier for manufacturers. If you took 20 factory rifles in 260 and 6.5 creedmoor each a ran them through an accuracy test, I feel confident the creedmoor would win on average accuracy just on what we have learned about case design in the last 30 years and was part of the creedmoor design. Same case philosophy is used in the wsm cartridges, 6.5x47, 6.5 prc, 22 br ,6mm br, the noslers, etc,etc...... BUT........if you ai the 260 , you have just done the same thing to that cartridge. You can use a reamer for the 260 that has a tight, longer freebore and take 80% of the advantage away from the creed. Factory gun.....creedmoor, custom build.........whatever your mind can dream up if your wallet can take it.
