[QUOTE="BountyHunter, post: 6468, member: 12"] Rem 1. Buy the Forester Bonanza BR dies or at least the micrometer seater at half the cost of the Redding. you can have the dies converted to use Redding bushings for $35 by Jim Carstenson at JLC Precision at 13095 450th Ave, Bellevue, Iowa 52031 2. Set realistic accuracy goals for a factory rifle of 3/4 MOA and be very happy with 1/2. Now you may better that, but doubt you get consistent 1/4. 3. Pick one bullet, work the load to your goals and stay with it. 4. Factory barrls are rougher than custom and may break in easy or very difficult, generally the breakin is fire one, clean, for 10 rds, then 3 for 15 rds and then 5 shot groups. 4. Do not under any circumstance attempt to lap or let anyone else lap the barrel. Quick way to ruin a barrel. The custom barrel makers do it, but the guy doing it has done literally thousands. If you are set on it, buy the Fire Lapping system from David Tubbs website for $29 and proceed cautiosly and according to instructions. 5. By the Sinclair book, Sinclair Internationals Reloading and Shooting Handbook, 10 edition for $12.95 and Precision Shooting at 1000 Yards for $34.95. Both sold by Sinclair International and best info for starting out. 6. If you gun is not shooting good, by 200 rds it is only going to get worse, not better at 1000 plus, particularily in a big magnum. Most 1k BR barrels are changed by 1500-2000 rds in many cases.
