Hmm, saw many posting to this, got an email notification today didn't realize this was an old post. I am in the early stages of development, on a load for a BAR 300 win mag it is 220 grain ELD-X, the velocity is 2657 fps, SD 5.7 currently at 64.5grn of IMR4831. Initial 3 shot group was 0.6 MOA. COAL was about 3.288-3.295. For whatever reason BAR will group better below 3.300 COAL not sure why. But the BAR just would not group any more, put my old trouble-shooting scope on it, shot Remington 150grn deer factory box would not group, better than 3-4 MOA. Then tried these 220 grn reloads I had loaded for it. Believe I have a nice starting point. The BAR used to shoot 180grn partitions well, was always below a MOA, but last time out when tried to zero with factory federal blue box 180grn and Winchester 180grn power points, could not group any better than 2-3 MOA. I had just put it in the safe for a while until this range session. Will keep my old scope on it til load development is complete on this one. Probably need to do the whole disassembly and clean and lubricate it well, run the bore scope down the barrel. I have another load working on for my 300 win mag CA mesa now now the CA precision stock on it. A 200grn ELD-X, load no velocity didn't have my chrono yet initial group about .45 MOA with 68 grns of H4831, COAL running 3.32-3.34. 200grn ELD-X Hornady box ammunition grouped the same with this rifle .4-0.55 MOA. Will run a ladder on this load up to the Max load.
