I like to look at impartial reloading data as well, Like the Lyman and Lee Books. Lee has 40 grain bullets listed at 4477 fps for AA2520 and 4414 fps with AA 2700. The 2700 is a compressed load. XMR is 4409 fps . What I would do is try Accurate 2520 and back off. You are likely to get great results just under max and still be screaming, probably over 4350 fps. What more could you ask for? Nearly a flat laser out to 500 yards. At these speeds the 40 grain kicks *** over the 55's it gets there faster and has less time for YOUR inconsistency and for wind to act on it. "Speed kills" (when it is significant). I don't know what the Jaybird can do!!! People say, "you'll burn out your barrel", So what. You shoot less ammo guessing for holdover. Barrels are cheaper than rifles. Look at the ballistics. Sight in for a 300 yard zero! It's insane. You don't buy a Ferrari to drive 55mph. The .204 Ruger is another Gem I think people underrate. It is so efficient out to 400 or 500 yards.
