There are plenty of 7mm bullets that are great ballisticaly. A muzzle brake will help both out tremendously. Make them both tolerable to shoot. The 7mm will however have less recoil and be more fun to shoot b/c to match the ballistics of the 180 class 7mm bullets you will have to go to a 210 class 30 cal. W/that said, obviously the 300 will pack more energy down range but it will also kick harder. It's all a trade off and unfortunatly there is no clear answer.
