Just tried out my first test loads with the 180 eldm in my 284 win. 32" pac-nor super match 5 groove with 8 twist. Using h4831 LC as my powder I started with a charge of 52gr as a starting point. I set the bullets in 4 shot groups with about 0.010" jam, 0.010" jump and about 0.020" jump. I have the bore a good scrubbing as I had been using 180 smk loaded with 55gr of the same powder. The wind is gusting from 10-15 mph on average so I'm not too concerned it's the groups but am taking it into consideration. This test was to see if there would be a big difference in whether the bullet preferred to jam or jump. And if the difference was enough to be concerned with. I used the first shot with the longer jump as the bore dirtier. So that load only got a 3 round test. This was tested at 145 yards. 0.020" jump: avg- 2737 fps, ES-1 fps, SD-0 fps, group 3/4". 0.010" jump: avg- 2734 fps, ES-12 fps, SD-5 fps, and a group of 1 1/4" 0.010" jam: avg-2737fps, ES-20 fps, SD- 8 fps, group of 1" with 3 in about 3/8". So this bullet looks very promising out of my rifle. I'm thinking I'll do more testing with longer jump. And hope the speed spread stays tight with more shots. If it does, and the Groupon stays comparable in calm weather. I'll be more than happy with 1/2 moa grouping. Kyle
