Nice tongue in cheek post Don. I liked it! Like any cartridge, there are people that love it and people that'll hate it. That's fine. But a cartridge doesn't last as long as the .270 Win and gain as much popularity over 90+ years if it doesn't perform. It just seems to strike that magical balance between power and recoil that most people can appreciate. If a guy wants to poke targets at long range, the 6.5CM is your huckleberry. Between a .30-06 and a .270 Win, there sure aren't a lot of hairs to be split between the two as they are so close in 'real world' results. I just don't see why a person couldn't own all three and be happy. As the candy bar commercial used to say, "Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes you don't." Grab the gun out of the safe that feels most 'right' for that day. For me, most of the time that's one of my .270 Wins. But danged if I don't love my .25-06, too. And my .308 Win. And my .338 WM. Or that .243 Win. Or the .338 Fed. That .300BLK is the ticket for close in hogs at night. The 6.8 SPC II does good work, too, though. So many guns to use and enjoy!
