[QUOTE="Stammster, post: 2032154, member: 114381"] 130 SSTs are my go to deer and hog bullet in 270 Win. I’ve got loads worked up for multiple guns with H4831SC, RL26, H4350, and most recently IMR-4064. In my gas guns (BAR and 7400), IMR-4064 is the only powder that doesn’t beat up my brass rims due to cycling timing issues. Using Hornady brass, I was able to reach 50.5 grains with my lot of IMR-4064 and 3.23” COAL in my 20” BAR. I worked up cautiously from 45.5 gr in 0.5 grain increments. Various sources had 47-48.5 gr as max, which proved to be conservative. Using Quickload, I originally worked up to 49.5 gr, but saw no pressure signs and velocities were lower than predicted...so I went to 50 and 50.5 gr with no issues. Tightest 3 shot groups were at 46.5gr (0.56” @ 100 yds, 2795 fps) and 50.5 gr (0.73” @ 100 yds, 3010 fps). Other charge weights shot 1.1”-2.2” groups. My advice... start at 46 or 47 gr, and work up from there. You should top out somewhere around 3000-3100 fps depending on final charge weight and bbl length - when you start seeing pressure signs. If you decide to switch powders, RL26 is by far the fastest at 3200 fps+ at 63.5 gr. H4831SC seemed to give the smallest groups and lowest SDs at various charges up to 60 gr and +/- 3080 fps, with the possibility to push harder up to 61 or 62 gr depending on brass H20 capacity.
