Both cartridges go back to the 375 H&H, so same bolt face. From what I've read about the 6.5x300, and experienced first hand with the 264, the Weatherby is about 200 fps or so faster using their factory ammo than I can reload in the 264. Weatherby gets 3400 FPS out of their factory loads with a 140 gr. pill, with 3030ft pounds of muzzle energy with that load. I can get 3200 fps safely, but that's as fast as I'm shooting my baby. I did some quick research and it looks like they get about $60.00 a box for those, and historically, it's been hard to squeeze more performance out of Weatherby by reloading. Money was always the hold back for me owning Weatherby. Not that I can't afford the rifles. I can't afford to shoot them like I like to shoot. If you can, I say go for it.
