Hey guys,
I finally found an excellent load for my Savage 12 lrp in .260. I switched to the Hornady amax 140 and love them so far. I started using the RL 23 and have got some excellent groups at 2710fps. Any higher powder, the rifle didn't like. Has anyone tried the RL 26 for .260? I was hoping to get around 2900fps.

I would think RL26 will fill case before you get higher velocities. How many grains of RL26 for 2700 can you fit any more? I would think 2700 fairly slow from a 26" bbl.

What other powders have you tried?

Good luck and shoot straight

I don't have any experience with the powders you mentioned, and you did not mention any other powders you've tried. So I will ask the obvious, have your tried H4350 or H4831SC? So far for me, H4831SC is my favorite. I get 2775 with 45.3 grains using 140 AMAX.

All of this above plus you might also consider IMR 7828 SSC. I have recently had some really good results with it pushing a 139g Lapua Scenar to 2750 FPS in a 24" Bartlein bbl gas gun. I easily give up 50-70 FPS over a similar bolt gun (or so it seems) and I'm not maxed out at this level or showing pressure. I think you could get real close to your 2900 goal with 7828 particularly with the SSC version.
