Good Morning, I ve been searching the reloading section and have come up dry. Has anyone used the 130 hpbt from Sierra in a 260 Rem? I have Varget, IMR 4064, H4350, RE 17, and H380 to use.

I can't speak to the 130 HPBT's, but the 120gr Sierra Pro Hunters are absolute tack drivers in my wife's model 7. What do you intend to use them for?

Ill be using these for deer/ paper / or whatever I need to shoot. I have a 120 prohunter load form my 7mm 08 that is outstanding, Just looking fo something a little heavier. I've gone to the 140 HPBT in my 7mm08 and am looking for a 130 for my 260. I'm going to load some up today and try them this week. I was wondering if anyone had tried them.

None of my 260's and I own 4 seem to like 130's and the powders I have had the best luck with are Win 760, H4831sc, H100 and VV N560. Of your choices I would try H4350 first some firearms really like it. Start at 38gr with H4350 at 34 with Varget and 33 with IMR 4064.

H4831sc has been my go to powder for 140's and 760 for 120's. I tried RL 17 and was not impressed. I have heard good reports about H1000. What is the twist rate of your rifle the 1 in 8 twist likes the 140's.

Good luck and shoot straight.

the twist is i:8
I loaded up some rounds with Varget and some with h4350. Sierra does not have load data published for this bullet yet. I emailed sierra before I purchased the bullets and one of their bulletsmiths tolad me I'd be ok using the data for the 140 and to work up to the max loads.

The only 140s I've tried are the Berger VLDs I tried them with Varget and with RE 17 , I wasnt happy with the grouping.

I have been shooting the Hornady 123 AMax with Varget, awsome grouping!

I'm going to try to shoot this week. gun) - - - - ((o))

Varget @ 39grs works so well with 130's. Just work up from 37grs and watch for pressure signs. However, you'll find 39 grs will just be scary accurate.

What I prepared for varget was 36, 37.5, and 38.5 gr. 37.5 is the high end of what my sierra book gives for the 140. I'll make some that are at 39 before I head out. Thanks!

That looks like a good starting point Fleavitt. Keep us posted. I wanted to shoot the 130's when I first purchased a 260 about 10 years ago and I could not get them to shoot. I really like the 130 swift scirroco.

After I reloaded and shot the 140 Accubond and VLD the first time I haven't turned back.

Good luck and shoot straight.
