I'll have to read up on them. My needs are a little different than most peoples as hogs are going to be a big part of the mix. Those who have done a lot of hunting of hogs and killed the bigger boars understand that it takes a special kind of bullet to be able to bring them down. They have a cartilage "shield" that runs from behind the shoulders across the chest up to about the base of the ear and back of the jaw which can be over 3" thick. The firs few big one's I killed utterly amazed me because we often found .243's, .224's, .30-30's, even an old 180 gr Bearclaw buried in the shields which had done noting but really **** them off. The standard VLD HP's simply will not do on them unless you get out the big guns or are able to really place your shots exactly in the right spot. Since for us on some of our places the landowners want every hog killed on sight, that means I need something capable of shooting one standing and four to six before they can run out of a wheatfield and have confidence I can deliver a fatal blow. A good many of our farmers and ranchers in Texas consider the feral hog to be one of the most serious problems we have in the state because they reproduce like rats and are absolutely hell on crops, particularly sorgum. Right now my intent is to find a load that really works in the gun, then I'll have Marke Hostetler at precision firearms load me up a few hundred at least to get me started and if his prove as good as advertised maybe the first thousand will come from him before I even think about reloading. They use all Lapua brass in their custom loads and deliver at a very reasonable price.
