[QUOTE="longrangehunterII, post: 1402560, member: 61185"] It does what it does, down side is fire forming the round which depending on the use, will lower the barrel life. My last 260 Rem PRS gun barrel didn't last that long, but I didn't care either way. I was going to rebarrel it to the 6.5 Creedmoor last year, but decided to switch it up and go with the 6mm Creedmoor. Which has nothing to do with barrel life but recoil, and seeing the shots placed on target BTW. Unless you're stuck with a .473" bolt face why not go with the new 6.5 PRS cartridge, 6.5 300/WSM or a 6.5 SAUM and avoid the fire forming? Or just go to the 6.5/284 or make a 6.5/06 and really bust past the whole AI thing in the speed department? Just sayin..... Not to throw a monkey wrench in your idea, I own a 280 AI, but that was because the brass was available already FF by Jarrett, 1990's ara, and years later Nosler made it available.... and now Hornady too! But I can't see that happening for the 260 AI. If it were me, and I know your not and I wanted the speed in a short/long action std bolt face I'd go the 6.5/284 route, the really short fat mags will still beat the pants off the 6.5AI, and do it W/O Fire Forming but you'll need a mag bolt face or spend the money opening it up. I like to keep it simple though, but that's just me. The App and a twist of the turret will still place the bullet where it needs to go if you do your part no matter what you're using in reality.
