Since the other four companies have similar max loads I am guessing there is something off with the Nosler. I just wanted to make sure there is not something different about that bullet that requires a lower max.
I bought some 130 grain accubonds and H4831 to load some rounds for my tikka 270. I have a little book that has load info from various brand bullet and powder makers specifically for a 270. I am a bit puzzled at the following info I found in it. Nosler- 130 g accubond - H4831 - max load 56.5 grains - velocity 3094 Sierra- 130 g bullet - H4831 SC - max load 59.2 grains - velocity 3100 Swift 130 g Scirocco- H4831 - max load 60.5 grains - velocity 3119 Hornady 130 g - H4831 - max load 62 grains!, velocity 3100 Hodgdon Powders - 130 grain bullets - H4831 Starting - 56, max - 60 I would be inclined to go with Nosler since that is the type of bullet I am loading. I am scratching my head because if I went with the powder companies recommendation for a starting load (56 grains) I would only be able to go up .5 grains before reaching Noslers max load (56.5 grains). Since the other four companies have similar max loads I am guessing there is something off with the Nosler. I just wanted to make sure there is not something different about that bullet that requires a lower max. I know to start low, work up, and see what works in my gun, but this large contridiction makes it hard to know where to start. If anyone has loaded this bullet powder combination I would love some feedback.
