We hunted with STWs for years back when it was a pure wildcat, great cartridge but finicky. We had to make cases out of 300 Weatherby back then. Those long belted cases get head separations really easy so even bumping the dogmatic .002in can eventually lead to it. Other long belted cases suffer the same fate, ie. 300 Weatherby, 300 WIN, 7mm REM etc.

Pulling that case is pretty easy. A typical puller kit will have a drill bit, thread tap and bolt/cup to pull cases.

1. Drill the case base straight through the primer.
2. Tap the hole
3. Place the cup over the base and start screwing the supplied bolt into the hole you tapped until the case pulls out.

The problem is the head came off stayed in the shell holder, so there was nothing to drill & tap. I called Hornady today they said sent it right out. It was my fault I lost track of the number of times brass had been full length resized. I loaded the shells 2 years ago for a antelope hunt So you think I might of damaged the chamber where gas escaped as 1 guy mentioned, there was only 3 shells with dents.

How about $50. When I get home from this Elk hunt I'm on I can pull it together for you.

I sent my die to Hornady to get the stuck case out of the die. I got email today it had been repaired & would ship back to me ASAP. Thanks for your offer but looks like I will be fine, I have seen people comment about poor service & quality from Hornady, but I can`t say enough about the great service they have always provided me! Thanks again for your offer
