I finally got a good load for the 165 SST in .308. Nearly a max load of Varget at 2.755 OAL. Today I got a 0.368" 4 shot group and a 0.604" 3 shot group at 100y. Shooting these in a Savage 10FP.
Now I have to push them out to 200/300/400 yards to see how they do.
Good to note. I shot my first loads at 100y and was not happy with the results when loaded at 2.75 in .308. I was going to try them loaded out further and your posting hopefully confirms my next step.
My wife went deer hunting with me for the first time last Saturday. She really enjoyed it and wants to go back out after she gets her license and hunt herself.
This is the longest I'm familiar with. It goes out to 700y. It's run by a former Navy Chief Small Arms Instructor. Good guy and he runs a tight ship so to speak.

Ditto others on the Savage tactical series 10FP. It has a heavy barrel which isn't fun to carry very far but I bought it mostly to target shoot with. Accuracy on mine is MOA out to 400 when I do my part and the wind cooperates.
My oldest son (14) has gone with me the last three years. My daughter (18) will be joining her boyfriend this year and my wife says she'd like to give it a try this year too. I'm gonna be busy.
I'm a little new at this but I'm trying to do the same thing.
Using the above coefficients, if you can launch the SGK at 2680fps and the SMK at 2650fps they will match out to 400 yards and at 500 the the GK drops 2".
Can someone verify my results? Hopefully I did this right.
