I just bought a neck sizing die. And it occured to me I am not sure exactly where I put the calipers to measure the neck size before or after I run the brass through the die. Should the entire neck be the same size the entire length? Do I measure only the tip of the neck? Thanks for any help...
Hi all. I just got a neck sizing die with bushings. Now I have to ask? When I run brass through the die, exactly where do i put the calipers on the neck to get the neck size?. At the middle of the neck?..at the tip of the neck?
Thanks for any help guys.
Re: I am shooting nosler 155 match and nosler 168\'s
Hey jd338..........thanks for the advice.......and yes Moran is just down the road from Kinross. My mother was born there in Moran.......thanks again for the help.
Mike/tx is adding fuel to my fire. I intend to do what he is talking about. I just found out that there is an abandoned military range a few miles from Kinross and I intend to "make a day of it" at this range. I know it will be necessary to have a checklist before leaving the house. Knowing...
Hi OCW green. I have definitely been to your site and am working on what you propose. I probably went about the procedure bassackwards but til i get the chrony I will accept what is going on with my shooting. I use winchester brass. Winchester primers...just the large rifle variety. I am...
I bought the powder from wideners for $79 for 8#. I was under the impression this was milsurp powder. I am wrong? At any rate Im happy with the results to this point. I sent for a chrony beta master with printer on thursday. I will be able to see what velocity I am shooting at so when I get down...
I am shooting nosler 155 match and nosler 168\'s
I loaded the 155 noslers with 43.5 IMR 4895. Same with the nosler 168's. Both had OALS's from 2.90 to 2.70. I shot them patiently. I have a remington 700 bdl vs. (made in 1992 and bought new in the box in 2004) The 2.80 and 2.75 OAL bullets shot...
Thanks for the adice and ideas guys!!
I have a goal for the end of this summer. I want to be able to be consistant at 500 yards shooting my .308. As I creep along to my objective I am amazed at how information is shared by people on this forum willing to take the time to share their...
Thanks for the post Thomast. I guess i could have added that i use winchester brass exclusively at this time. Maybe investing in some nosler, or norma brass would solve most of the neck measurement discretions?
I just purchased some IMR4895 powder from wideners. I studied surplus powders for a long time before taking a chance on purchasing some. People on this forum and the archives convinced me to take the step to purchase some surplus powder for my .308 Sooooooooo it got here. I loaded up some ammo...
I have a redding competition seating die. Also a redding competition necksizing die. Both just recently purchased. Now of course the bushings dont come with the necksizing die. I read that I should take a micrometer and measure some loaded bullets and subtract .001 or .002 to get the right...
I think my chronograph will be safe from any errant shooting I may do. Lots of good ideas from all and lots for me to think about/incorporate into my shooting agenda this summer. Thanks again.....all.
Or help from anyone who is smart enough not to have blasted their chronograph.!!!! I am about to purchase a chronograph and I have heard and read of shooters hitting their chronograph while shooting. How can I prevent doing this? How does this happen? Also, any opinions on which chronograph...
Hi all. I am sorta a newbie to reloading. But not a virgin. Always willing to learn and share. I do have a question maybe someone can help me with. Has anyone ever used the lyman 310 press? I have a friend who started me reloading and he had one of the lyman 310's. I would like to be able...
