Having an issue with stainless media tumbling

I've tried a few different methods of cleaning brass. When I was buying military brass in surplus lots I used a cement mixer and corn cob. The method that works best for me is to use small corn cob in a vibratory tumbler. I deprime before cleaning and the small cob cleans the primer pocket. I...

    Kennetrek, Schnees, Crispi boots

I love my Limmers. The only place that sells them in the US is in New Hampshire but you can get them by mail order on the internet. I used to be on a mountain search and rescue team and we spent all our time in the toughest areas of the mountains with packs that averaged 80 to 100 pounds. Tried...

    Cleaning sizing dies

I like to use Butch's bore shine on a chamber cleaning brush. I follow up with cotton patches wrapped around different sized nylon brushes. One brush that fits the body and one that fits the neck. I usually twist a patch in to clean the threads too. Several times I've had people bring me nasty...

How do you drag game out?

I love the capstan winch but never had the $1200 burning a hole in my pocket. I use the harbor freight winch. It's rated for 2000 pounds but with a couple of snatch blocks I've pulled boulders out of the creek where I was mining that were the size of a VW bug. And it's about a grand cheaper. The...

Case trimmer- what to buy and not to buy

I'll second the Wilson. I've tried quite a few but nothing comes close for me. I've had mine since the early 70's. The only suggestion I have is to get the model with the micrometer for setting the length. They didn't have that option when I bought my first one. After more than fifty thousand...

What came first: the chicken or the egg

I usually work on charge first and then seating. Doesn't really make a huge difference but I've always found that I get to the end point a little faster. The chicken thing reminded me of a conversation overheard in a restaurant. Waitress comes to a table to take an order and asked the guy what...

    35 whelen- Black Bear

For hunting I would recommend you take a look at Beartooth bullets. They're wonderful for hunting, especially in the larger calibers. www.beaetoothbullets.com

What to do with leftover powder

I use everything unless it's really old. That's a subjective thing since I'm still using powder that's 40 years old. When I have to dispose of powder I use it on the garden. It works even better on grass, I just don't have any grass. Powder is mostly nitrogen.

    Favorite hog gun

I like the 44 mag. I have a S&W 629 that's taken about 50 hogs. The pistol is so much easier to deal with if I'm crawling through the brush. I prefer to sneak up to within 30 yards but probably about 20 of the hogs I've taken were about 100 yards. I use standard open sight so it's important to...

Questions to those reloading 12 ga Tungsten turkey shells.

I've been loading my own since 69. I started loading to save money and found that I enjoyed loading more than shooting. I taylor my shells for the hunt. Game, temps, altitude and most environmental conditions make a difference for my loads. I do a lot of trap skeet and sporting clays. Every load...
