I bought a new Leupold VX5HD firedot this past year for around $930 I plan to put on my 30-06. Don't really plan to shoot beyond 500 yards with it, so hoping it tracks well for that. Seems to be some mixed reviews. Nicest scope I have bought.
I have a kuiu pack with 3200 and 7200 bags for day pack and backpacking. 5+ yrs old now. But I will look at stone glacier closely when I need to replace.
I remember looking at some at REI or some other big store and between cost and design (not comfortable) I didn't want to spend money on one. So we just use a day pack or backpacking pack.
Lightweight since I end up hiking quite a bit. And the 22" barrel will be nice so overall length is shorter when I add a suppressor. I don't want 30"+ since I hike through thick brush quite a bit.
Recoil with the lightweight was somewhat of a concern but between shooting with a muzzle brake or...
I would look at type 1 tags that start in early October. Could hunt archery and then rutting action when the rifle season starts if you are still hunting.
I would consider putting info for special to get a unit with decent amount of public land. My 2021 pronghorn from high elevation sagebrush tasted great. Mid Oct and cold so it was cooled down fast.
