    Rem 788 308 win question.

Those 788's! I worked over one for my daughter and one for a friend....put a few changes on the stock, checker, duracoat the metal.

    Is this normal brass wear??

The headspace kit and things learned are excellent. I made a poor man's version using a digital caliper and 1/4" and 3/8" sockets. I just found the right size socket to contact the case shoulder about half way down, then put the combo in the calipers. I found it very interesting measuring...

    Is this normal brass wear??

+1 on what the guys just told you! Those cases only put up with stretching like that a couple times. Do what they say, don't believe that you'll get it right just by setting the die so it cams over. If you don't have a custom shell holder set, then you need to adjust the die instead. The chamber...

Crazy fast 215 Berger Hybrid 300 wm....

Um, RL22 is the one powder I have had the most variation with lot to lot, bottle to bottle, and I still love the stuff. Was this a new batch or was it used in other loads? Did you weigh the Bergers? Somebody out there must be loading and shooting the same components. Hope they speak up! Wallypedal

    25-06 elk bullets

Welcome then, trapfool. That's quite a list you've got there, and if you can get them all to go <inch, then you can shoot as well! Don't expect to know where you hunt, but where is your home base? Good luck this fall!

    25-06 elk bullets

Yep, Edd I saw that. Kinda poking fun at the 7 pages of rambling and hijacking after your answer. The best answer IMHO. Our original poster was very wise in NOT telling us what brand of rifles he's got, or we'd have 9 more pages! :)

    25-06 elk bullets

Well, trapfool, I guess your answer is somewhere in this thread.:) I own a .25-06, along with other rifles. I killed elk annually for more than 30 years - most with cup/core bullets out of a .280. Nothing wrong with the .25-06. I suggest any of the tough bullets should do, but the Nosler 120...

Getting the Best Precision and Accuracy from Berger VLD bullets in Your Rifle

I got the best precision and accuracy out of the discontinued .257 caliber bullets. Tired of playing that game...I feel like I own an Edsel or something.:)

Decreasing bullet runout during bullet seating

I only load for a few different case sizes. Got interested in concentricity, searched the forums and looked at the various devices. I made my own from hardwood. I routed three different depth v- grooves to accommodate different diameter cases, from .223 up to the WSM's. One of the things I...

    Online component question

I agree. I think I was really whining about the difficulty of comparison shopping due to highly variable shipping/handling whatever add-on costs applied by the various companies. I like the "wheel" comment! Just try pricing out some checkering tool cutters sometime. It must be really hard to...

    Online component question

I went on Graf & Sons checking a few things, interested in Lapua .308 Win brass. Excellent reduced price posted in a green font. Right below that, in the same green font, "Prices include shipping!" (bold underline from me). Below that, in smaller black print it says "One flat fee of $7.95 per...

Bedding Compound - yes I've searched

+1 on Devcon 10110 I did the same web searching the original poster did, but came up with Devcon 10110 as most frequently recommended by the highly experienced. Got some and used it on four rifles so far. It works great. Wallypedal BTW - I never saw the importance of using neutral Kiwi. It...

    R-17 or R-25 for .25-06?

I had better results with R-25 with both 100 and 120 gr. bullets in terms of accuracy, pressure and velocity. I did have to work up, and am close to several of the book max listings. The 100 gr. Hornadys will get over 3,300 fps out of my 28 inch barrel. The 120's are @3,150 fps right now...

    Duplicate Chronograph results

I read all this thread and never saw real resolution to the OP's question. Just yesterday I wrote to and received replies from Competition Electronics which made sense. I was asking why I got identical numbers displayed (like 3122 but never a 3123) and why I got the "duplicate" reading...

Outside neck dia. of loaded 25-06?

All good info, just want to mention a couple things I didn't see brought up. First, some of the $20 calipers aren't great, and measuring with the knife edges takes some practice. I like using a regular micrometer on case necks. Second, not all .257" bullets are .25700". With as many variables...
