    Burris PosAlign offset inserts

YES!!! I had problems with my Savage. Have a Vortex Viper on it and when I zeroed it at 200 yard I was left with less than 4 minutes of elevation left. Put in one of the offset inserts and now with a 200 yard zero my scope is 4 moa below its center. They definatly worked for me.

    Helping a beginner

The Lyman reloading manual has both data and lays out all of the steps quite well. Modern Reloading by Lee also has lots of load data but the first half of the book goes over a lot of the basics. Both also cover safety which is important. Those are the two in my modest collection that seem to be...

    Powder Scale

I purchased a Redding no 2 powder scale and I like it a lot. Had it for about 2 years and I like the fact that it has over/under graduations on it in 1/10 grain increments. Very handy for weight-sorting brass and bullets. Just my two cents.

    Changing brass, keeping load?

I'm with Derek, Wichester brass is pretty good. I neck size and have reloaded my Winchester brass over a dozen times. And you are quite right, changing brass means you should work the load up again.

Where does your pet load fall?

    1. No, have not found one yet. 2. You bet! 3. Not how I start out, but so far that's what has worked. 4. As long as it's accurate I'm happy.

    First Time Reloader

Unless you have someone to mentor you I'd suggest picking up Lymen's latest reloading manual and Lee's reloading manual. Both have a lot of info on the reloading process and may help you decide what type of press will suit your needs. And you wont save any money but you will shoot a lot more and...

    7mm-08 Loading

I reload for a Savage 16 in 7 08 as well and have found Varget to be a pretty good all around powder. 100 grain varmiters to 140 grain Bergers it works rather well for me. As I live in Saskatchewan and shoot year round I like how its not as temp sensitive as H4350, which gives me my best...

    Help with scope decision...

Another vote for the 4-12x40 Vortex Viper. The glass is good, the adjustments are Very consistant and I couldn't be happier. Low light performance is pretty good. Only drawback on this one is the crosshair is a little on the thick side. BDC reticle is simple and with my 7 08 fairly close out to...

    needs for reloading

That's what I started with. Some things in the kit, like the scale, got replaced fairly quick. Most I still use. Nothing fancy, but it all will load good ammunition. The only things to add to your list is a set of calipers, AT LEAST 2 RELOADING MANUALS (you will find yourself cross referncing...

    VLD seating depth poll

In my Savage 16 in 7mm 08 I have found a .008" jam seems to work the best. Tried out to .090 jump and I think my Citori would group better, but jammed she shoots quite well:cool:.

    Loading presses ?

I just use a Lee Challenger press with the Breechlock system. I bought one of the kits about 2 years ago and so far am happy with the press. The scale had to go(hard to read) but the press has seen about 700 reloads. When I do upgrade I think Lee's Classic Cast will be what I buy. Nothin fancy...

    Best 243 bullet for deer?

Thanks for all the replies everyone! Guess I should have mentioned it's a Remington 700 sps with a 24" barrel. Tried some Hornady 87 gr V-mav's today and also let him try some shooting a little further than 100 yards. I got to proudly watch him hit pop cans all the way out to 300 yards and yes...
