I'm getting 2910 with a 162 in my 7mag. Haven't drawn a tag since I've started loading these pills so I don't have any on game performance sadly. But I CAN say that accuracyhas been great, and making shots in variable wind at 500 yards and above has become much easier and consistent. I'm...
Well said sir. I believe in being as fast as I can be while being accurate. This rifle tends to group better the faster I push the pill. And this is as fast as I will go with this particular bullet. 2900 seems to be right in the ballpark with where everybody else is so it's plenty for me!
I've begun to rely more on powder manufacturers data that bullet companies. Only reason I've stayed with hornady in this load is it's a new bullet with much more bearing surface than I've ever dealt with before, so not real sure how comparable pressures would be to something like an accubond or...
DryI planned on shooting yesterday instead of watching the football game. But I got lazy and watched the game haha glad I did! If the weather stays decent this weekend I will get out and fine tune my zero and try some retumbo loads. No luck finding RL23 so far
Well, I do believe I will put feelers out on some 23. This gun is shooting 22 so well I hate to get very far away from it. And I've got a friend loading retumbo so he said he'll let me load a few with it and see what the results are like.
I had a similar issue with a 300 I worked up a load for. Ended up going with IMR4350 of all things. And it loves it! .5 or less all day, any day with 180gr E-tips
I printed 3 drop charts to try from jbm, hornady 4dof, and strelok. All with identical data inputed. And after 300 yards they show very different numbers haha which one do you use?
Yeah that's another issue. I live at 6000 feet and hunt anywhere from 6000 to 10,000. But most shots where this rifle would be used are in the 6-8000 ft range.
Yeah I'm in the same boat here in NM. shooting all summer getting drops figured in 100 degree heat don't do me much good when a shot at an elk in October could be 25-40 degrees
