    Hammer HHT Bullet Group

I shot two deer with a 90 hht in a 6mm creedmoor. I will say the bloodtrails were notably better than a regular hh. The hht seems to expand quicker and they seem to expand better on low resistance tissue. Just my observation from my two. A friend has been using a 75 hht in a 243 with very good...

    243 or 6mm reminton

I’d take a 6mm remington over a 243 personally because I like the cool factor of it plus I think it’s a better design we cartridge than a 243. Not much difference between a 243,6mm remington and a 6mm creedmoor. I shoot a 6mm creedmoor and it accounted for five deer last season. I liked using...

Hammer bullets coexist with Cup/Lead Core bullet loads

In my 6mm creedmoor i shoot a 87 vmax and 88 hammer hunter and I have shot these two loads side by side and have noticed no difference. Could be my specific instance though. They utilize the same power and charge weight even, they're literally identical loads in every way except the bullet. Try...

243 Weatherby 307 and 88gr Hammer Hunter bullets

I’ve shot 4 deer this year with the 88 hammer hunter out of a 6mm creedmoor and it does a dandy job on them from 30 yards to 460 yards. H4350 would be my powder of choice. I’m getting 3380 fps with 44gr of h4350 in a 28” barrel. Start low and work up with caution. Load data is available on the...

What’s up with Hornady’s reloading podcast?

I watched part of one episode of their podcast and it felt too much like an advertisement than an educational thing. Hornady makes a fine varmint bullet and they’re good at keeping them in stock that’s where my involvement with hornady ends really.

What is the rifle you passed by that you regret not buying

Absolutely it would. I’m sure if I put the word out on some local classifieds I could find one. For a hefty sum.

The bidding went $50 above what I had on me and I had to let it go The third is a lgs grices was running a special browning a bolt micro hunter and one...

    Winchester 1885 Low Wall

I have large fingers so I was worried about my thumb being able to fit under the scope for the hammer. But to my surprise it is quite accessible and my scope is mounted in low mounts to boot so it’s not a huge issue.

    Winchester 1885 Low Wall

I shoot a high wall 6mm creedmoor. The hammer has a half cock notch and automatically cocks on opening, you have to manually let down the hammer. I am actually looking to add the same rifle you are to my collection, the highwall with a 28” barrel is not light but it’s not overly long either. I...

Guide shoots to 600 yds after watching backfire.

I use milk jugs like this alot. It’s it very realistic practice to just throw them out in a field and go to shooting. I use gallon jugs for my big game rifles and 1/2 gallon or 2 liters for varmint guns. I can tell you after 350 yards they become difficult to hit on windy days.

What’s the farthest you have taken a big game animal with a rifle?

I too practice all summer on groundhogs. They’re my favorite animal to hunt. My longest is 512 on a woodchuck.
