    Cutting down a lever gun

At the time (Aug 2020), it was $250 for all the work you’ve described. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if it was over $300 now.

    Cutting down a lever gun

https://grumpysguns.com/ He did my marlin 336 and threaded it for a silencer. Excellent work and fairly quick turnaround.

Forgot to update this old story with a picture of the mount.

Ok, it's time to see lever action kills

I don't know if it will ever get better than this for me: https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/old-black-buck-down.209805/

    168gr vs 178gr In a Shorter Barrel

100% agree - the core concept of heavier bullet/better BC at slower MV holds. A 178 ELD is gonna be better in the wind than a 168 ELD unless velocity gets pushed hard.

    168gr vs 178gr In a Shorter Barrel

I went through this with my 20" 308 too. 175s+ all the way. Much better BC and every little bit helps in the 308. They drop a bit more, but they do much better in the wind. <400 yards or whatever, run whatever makes you feel good. Beyond that, the 175+ will kill the 168 in the wind. The way to...

Talk to me about .243 Winchester

I have an 18" 243 and I've used the light Nosler BTs to great success. I toyed with the Barnes, both 80 TTSX and the 85 TSX, and never fell in love. But I also hunt Texas whitetails who are about large dog sized. :) Agree that it's a great youth rifle. Almost zero recoil and the BT is nasty. If...

    Savage 110 Reliable? Weaknesses?

I have a 110 that I bought from my smith several years ago. Customer had loaded something majorly hot and "broken" it. They brought it in, it needed some minor small parts, and the rifle was worth less than the labor bill, so the customer abandoned it. I bought it for $50. It had a .473 bolt...

16.5 Inch 6mm Creedmoor Performance - The Perfect Youth Hunting Rifle?

Awesome! It's been super cool watching this come together over the last year or so. Really looking forward to seeing how it does in the coming weeks. Where do you think you ended up cost wise vs. that Co-Pilot?

Muzzle Brakes and how to measure efficiency. Can of worms!

Another vote for Cal's work @ PRB. Jeremy S @ TTAG did a huge writeup some years back for muzzle brakes that's less complex than what Cal did, but showed good results.

    Pin tumbler

I separate using a RCBS media separator that I fill with water. Great way to separate pins and wash the brass. The pins I use do get stuck sideways in 6.5 necks, but they’re real obvious. Never in a primer pocket though. I also corn cob tumble the loaded rounds so they’re extra shiny

5.56 powder testing results with 75 gr.

I flight plan 2600 fps for the 75s - very achievable with off the rack components at factory OALs. I've shot them at steel @ 475 yards, but its very difficult to spot hits. sometimes even hard to hear them hit steel.

5.56 powder testing results with 75 gr.

I love that bullet. Buy it in bulk and have shot it through 12.5", 16", and 20" guns. Datapoints on CFE vs Varget are below. *****Disclaimer***** these loads are safe in my guns. Do not replicate in your guns. 20" Armalite w/ 5.56 NATO chamber This is a 1:9 barrel, so I haven't done a ton...
