First time shooting my new CZ 17 Hmr

    Try a 4" and 2" gongs at 200 yards. Lots of fun ( especially the 2" ! )

Czechoslovak Group committed to buying Vista Outdoor's ammunition business

You don`t have to " ban " anything.... just starve them to death along with making purchasing and owing a firearm such a colossal PITA that eventually more and more people ( at least the law abiding ones ) will give up and say, " To hell with it. Not worth the trouble. "

What is the most hated deer rifle you owned ?

Interesting. Several posts so far in which the gun wasn`t appropriate for the shooter. Not sure that`s the gun`s fault.

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

I`m pretty sure that if the ONLY choice I had to hunt was public land, that`d be it for my hunting career. Too many fools make some of that ground almost into combat zones. And what is it anyway about hunting on public land that apparently turns WAY too many people into the north end of a south...

Joiled the 1 mile club today

All things considered, especially the fact that I shoot factory loads, should my club range go to 1K from 500, my 1K rifle will in all likelihood be 6.5 CM. Love my Savage .223, however, and would keep it to shoot at small gongs to about 600 or so.

Joiled the 1 mile club today

Congrats!! I doubt very seriously that I`ll ever get the opportunity ( or probably the equipment! ), but a question of curiosity for the board. What does everyone think is the least/smallest caliber that one could/should shoot to make a mile and have a good chance for consistency? Thanks.

" Often, the animal doesn`t know it`s dying." OK, you.......could be right. I`m personally not necessarily convicted in that belief, but I don`t believe that there`s anyway to know that for sure. I can see where your example might lead one to that conclusion, however.

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

I`m in no way condemning bow hunting, but respectfully question the notion of equivalency between bow hunting and gun hunting when it comes to cripples. Certainly, not every animal shot with a firearm is DRT but I would submit that the tracking skills required for bow hunting, as a rule, would...

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

An excellent account of why I never took up bow hunting. I want an animal to be DRT if at all possible. But to each his own.

OK, a silly 6.5 Creed question, which to buy ?

+1 on the 110 Storm. Like mine in .223 very much.

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

If everybody was absolutely honest, and spent any time in the woods, particularly after dark, I would wager that there`s very few of us who haven`t had the feeling of, " You know....I`m not absolutely sure I should be here right this second. " By and large, we are not creatures of the night. Our...

    What’s your spookiest hunting experience?

That was some nice writing. GHOs are also known as flying wolves. For good reason! The GHO is a predator of the adult wild turkey. The owls actually knock them off the roost and take them to the ground. Finding a carcass with only the head and neck eaten is certain evidence of GHO predation.
