So is the boltface of my 30-06 to small for a 338 RUM? I really don't know who is going to do the work at this time. Just trying to get some ideas and boy am I. Thank you all for the help. Now if I do go with the 338 RUM what wolud be a good barel?

I picked up a rem 700 dirt cheap. Would like to turn it into a long range elk gun. It is currently chambered in 30-06. The gun has some rusting on it so it needs some tlc anyway. Would love to have a 338 Lapua but that may be a little much for a 700? And shooting the lapuas are hard on the bank...
