Why not crank the scope all the way down and shoot, crank it all the way up, and measure the distance between them first. That way you eliminate the scope before you dismantle.

I have shot 284 rounds through this rifle, with no problems. I shot this rife yesterday out to 1543 yards in -3 temperature. The question was removable bottom metal. I want to have a magazine because the most accurate load is too long for the well.

Gentleman, I had a smith turn a Model 70 Classic, in 7mm Rem Mag to a .338 Norma. What I was wondering was if someone makes a removable magazine that could be fit to this rifle? And where to get extra mags for it?

Why can't you fold the leather under the rifle/trigger guard instead of around the scope? Then make it tall enough to clear the turret. I use a scabbard a lot, and the bottom seam always folds over, where the strap is, with use. When this happens the scabbard gets smaller, and it gets harder...
