Hey guys, I seem to have the worse luck buying expensive rifles...
I just bought a new Christensen Arms travers in 300 win mag havnt fired a shot out of it yet but seem to have a heck of an issue feeding rounds from the internal magazine.
sometimes it takes palm strikes on the bolt to get it...
Ok back to the range this evening. I didn’t have time to stretch it out but I did validate that I was still on at 100 yards.
Also shot 3 different type of ammo, ballistic silver tip shot 2 moa, Barnes ttsx shot 2 moa however the accubond shot 0.5 moa, I’ll attach a pic below of one of my 3 shot...
WOW.. so many helpful replies, I think im heading back out this evening for a rematch, lol.. To answer the question about cant, I haven't checked level, I had Cabela's install the scope so assumed they leveled it properly (they said they would) but I was shooting off a bipod and a rear bag...
Going to try again with follow through this weekend, it is a light rifle, browning stainless stalker with a Leupold vx5hd coming in at just over 7lbs. 300wsm no break.
Muzzle velocity input was 2975 (average of 5 shots) with the slowest being 2971 and the fastest being 2979. ballistic coefficient input was 0.507 Impacts were all around the rock, a couple high, a couple to either side and a couple low. all between 6 inched to 1 ft off the rock.
That certainly sounds like this gun as well, In fact I had a different scope on it last year (trijicon accupoint) and bought the VX-5 because I couldn't get decent groups past 300 then.. tho the Leupold has got me a little further, it could be due to the grater magnification maybe?
Perhaps...
Thank you, I think we may retry this weekend. Yes it was 650, well 647 to be exact on my Gunwerks br2500.
I’m going to try to attach a rock I shot at 410 yards below just before attempting 650.
That’s around 3.5 inches, I should have shot another but I didn’t.
Barrel may have been hot, we had just fired 10 rounds or so at 400 yards.
If I could find a smith to do it, I have a carbon wrapped barrel installed but they don’t seem to like working with Browning’s.
Imagian a v and I’m shooting across the narrow part of the v where it steps down in benches if your Familiar with the way strip mines bench slopes when they put them in.
I made a mental note that it was very calm, even the dust cloud from the bullet impact was lingering for a couple seconds, plus the impacts seemed to move all around not just to the left or right. Some high, some low, some left, some right type of deal.
