I'm back from my 2nd Chuckar hunt

That's surprising. Beretta A400 is known as one of the softest recoiling guns out there. I see your model is a 3.5 inch. That's more of a waterfowl model. What load are you using for chuckar?

    Tikka 243 8 twist

    I didn't think Tikka made a 6 Creed.

    Tikka 243 8 twist

I see Tikka 243 chambering is 8 twist. I would think a 6mm Creed would be designed to shoot the long heavy bullets with more efficiency. I realistically wouldn't shoot past 600 yards anyway for steel or coyotes. The factory clip would limit bullet seating I would think. Anyone have any...

How I prepare my knees for 8 western mountain backpacking trips per year...at age 77

Great thread. I’m 55 now. Been blessed with being able to do a lot of physical activities without working out much. When I got to around 45 I could tell I needed to do more to stay in shape. Been fighting rotator cuff and knee issues. Fixed them both the last 10 years just trying various workout...

    Your most interesting animal encounter

Sitting on the ground calling coyotes had a owl fly in and perch on my gun barrel. Lasted for 2 seconds before I flipped out.

    Late season South Dakota Pheasants

Late season roosters are tough. Still fun though.

    Windage Adj. Base

I went shopping the other day for scope rings and based for a Win model 70. Checked out 3 local gun stores and they all had large selection of the leupold windage adjust rear and dovetail front. Personally I went away from that style 15 years ago. I never trusted them. On this site and other...

    Leupold Duel Dovetail Rings

So use Burris Bases with Leupold Rings?

    Leupold Duel Dovetail Rings

I think there are only 1 set of bases offered by Leupold for a short action model 70. Different finish, gloss, matt, and silver are offered.

    Leupold Duel Dovetail Rings

I have a Model 70 short action, sporter weight barrel in 308. I have a Burris Fullfield E1 3-9x40mm, 30mm tube I want to put on this rifle. I used the Leupold Mount Finder page on their website. In the scope selection I entered a Leupold VXR 3-9x40 30mm tube. I have one of those also, laying...

    new to long range.

If the 243 shoots well, put a good long range scope of your choice on it. Shoot it until the barrel is worn out. By then you will have a lot better idea of what you really want.

    New 22-250 barrel

I googled 22-250 barrel twist and had plenty of info to read. I believe I have 2 choices. #1 Stay with 14 twist and 55 g. vmax bullets, which has proven to do everything I need to 400 yds. with decent barrel life. #2 Go with a 8 or 9 twist and shoot something like a 75 g. vmax and extend...

    New 22-250 barrel

Why would a 53 g. vmax be harder to stabilize than a 55 grain? It must be built totaly differant.

    New 22-250 barrel

I finally shot out my factory 22-250 barrel on a Win. 70. I am having a local gunsmith order a Krieger #3 contour 1/14 twist 24" long. I carry this gun alot for calling coyotes. Most shots are within 200 yds. with the 300 to 400 yd. hang up once in a while. My gunsmith and I were talking about...
