    270 win bullet selection

I've been using the 130 GMX with 47.0 grains of H4895 behind it and a Fed210GM primer in Hornady brass. I get 2,925 fps for MV and clover leafs on paper. More importantly, I have killed numerous mule deer, black bear, and elk over the years. My shots ranged from 20 to 400 yards. Most are DRT...

    Barnes LRX Jump

I've been using and reloading Barnes for years. All of mine are at 0.05" or a little more and very accurate. In my .243, .270, 7mm-08, and 338 Federal, all of my loads are at or within 1 grain of the listed book max for powder charge. At least in my rifles, they seem to like the higher end of...

    Tikka 7mm-08

I've had a stainless 7mm-08 Tikka for about 10 years now. I'm pushing a thousand rounds through it and it is still deadly accurate. I've shot all kinds of powder and bullets combinations with zero problems. This rifle has counted for many critters on the ground. Using mostly 140 grain...

    270 Winchester loads w/ IMR3031 and 130gr TTSX

Yes, 3031 is on the fast side, but it may work. I use H4895 in my 270 with 130 GMX bullets. With 47 grains, I get clover leafs every time and it averages 2,925 fps out of a 22 inch barrel with single digit standard deviation. It has taken several animals the last few years!

    7mm08

I've been hunting with, shooting, and reloading the 7mm-08 for over 12 years. I've tried and shot about every bullet and powder combination one can imagine. At least in my rifle, R-17 and Big Game, have been the most accurate and fastest with 140 grn bullets and heavier. For 120's, Varget...

    7mm-08 Rem with H4350 or RL17?

Well, a couple of items to mention... First, the 7mm-08 isn't too picky on powders. I have shot good groups using RL-15, RL-17, Big Game, H-380, IMR 4064, and Varget with various bullet makers and weights. Second, every rifle/barrel is different. It will tell you what it likes best, but...

    7mm08 Deer hunting load

I have had a stainless Tikka in 7mm-08 for several years now. I've shot numerous mule deer and a few elk (25 to 250 yard ranges) with no problems. The farthest any animal has gone after being shot only once is 40 yards. I use, and my gun likes, the Barnes 140 TSX with a max load of Ramshot...

    LabRadar question

I purchased and have been using a LabRadar for over a year now with zero problems. When shooting my handguns and rifles, I use the internal sound trigger. A fellow shooter on the range recently wanted to see how fast his pellet rifle was kicking out his pellets. I switched over to doppler...

    Magnetospeed vs labradar

I don't have a Magnetospeed, but I do have the LabRadar which I absolutely love! Like others have mentioned, I don't like the idea of attaching something to the barrel. I've had zero issues with the LabRadar. What's nice is that I can shoot my rifles for awhile and then easily and quickly...

Help with caliber choice 6.5,708 or 308

Well, I can't speak for Kimbers, but I can on the calibers. I have both a 6.5 CM and 7mm-08. They're both stainless Tikka's. I've had the 7mm-08 several years now and have taken many mule deer and one elk (all up to and under 350 yards). I use 140 grain Barnes TSX bullets (most accurate bullet...

Daughter wants a new (smaller and lighter) rifle....

I have both a 6.5 CM and 7mm-08. They're both stainless Tikka's. I've had the 7mm-08 several years now and have taken many mule deer and one elk (all 250 yards or less). I use 140 grain bullets. The 7mm-08 Tikka has been a great accurate rifle and none of the deer and one elk went more than 40...

6.5creedmoor vs 7mm08 for whitetails under 350 yards

I have both a 6.5 CM and 7mm-08. They're both stainless Tikka's. I've had the 7mm-08 several years now and have taken many mule deer and one elk (all up to and under 350 yards). I use 140 grain bullets. The 7mm-08 Tikka has been a great accurate rifle and none of the deer and one elk went...

7mm-08 bullet for mule deer & black bear

I have a stainless Tikka T3 in 7mm-08 that shoots Barnes bullets really well (140-grain TSX...3 dead mulies and 1 elk over the last 3 years in Montana, 40-257 yard shots). I've just gotten into reloading and I'm wondering about other bullet weights with the Barnes. I'll be doing a high hunt this...
