    Tikka recoil lug swap??

I have had 2 rifles built on the older 595/695 actions. The gunsmith made a new stainless recoil lug that also incorporated the front action pillar. This was then all bedded into the stock. Don't know if this would open up other stock options, but it certainly is an improvement over the factory...

Let's see your Varmint rifles !

Yes, seems a little odd I think. Here you need to jump through hoops if you want to own something like an AR15 (or similar "military style" semi auto's), and handguns, well that's even more restrictive... but supressors aren't a problem...

Let's see your Varmint rifles !

Thanks. No, supressors are not mandatory over here, but I really prefer to use them on my varmint rigs, and other heavy rifles (where weight is not an issue). So much nicer to shoot and makes it easier to spot your shots (much the same as using a brake) and the big benefit is that it is...

Let's see your Varmint rifles !

My latest... 6.5x47L 28 inch supressed Lilja barrel. New Zealand made Barnard action and chassis system. 123gr amax @ 3,080fps. Best so far is 830 metres on a rabbit... My shorter range varminter... Tikka Continential Varminter rebarrelled into 20 Tactical. Best with this so far was 3...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Great minds think alike ah? :D So, if I went with a 338 Snipetac, can I use the same dies for a 375ST (assuming I get a bushing die set)?

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

**** groper! I thought I had decided on the 338... I would most likely use the SMK in either case at the moment as they are the most readily available... Otherwise the Rocky Mountain is an option. I think a 1 in 10 twist would be what I would spec for either a 338 or 375... The only thing...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Man this twist/projectile thing is evolving on a daily basis!... I might just sit on the fence and wait this one out for a while before jumping into the 375 cal... I think I have almost decided on a 338 version...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Kellyzier, Thanks for the info... I don't need anymore choices, struggling to decide now!... Are you going to use the barrel that you had for your 375 ST or a faster twist? Cheers.

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

It seems like a reasonably expensive Snipe Tac to me too... The more I delve into this, the more I am tempted by a 338 version... Seems that there is plenty more known about the 338's, and I could always throw a 375 barrel on once the 338 is shot out... Hopefully by that time there maybe some...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Thank you guys for the replies so far. Seems as though this 375 cal thing is a bit of a moving target... I am kind of leaning towards a 1 in 10 twist barrel at this stage... Reasons are: 1. It seems that the SMK's are quite forgiving with twist rate 2. It allows me to shoot solids if I wish...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Is anyone running the Rocky Mountain projectiles in either a 338 or 375 Chey Tac variant? Interested to hear results on these.

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Very nice groper. Did Wilddog build that for you? I will build on a P Chey action as well. I would ultimately like something that is able to be carried around a bit, but I do have a couple of lighter rigs for the mountains over here... Really, the main thing for me at the moment would be...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Thanks for the welcome Chas1. It seems that there is a much better choice of 338 cal projectiles. I haven't dismissed it as a alternative to the 375. The main attraction of the 375 (for me) is the increase in barrel life over the 338, but in reality, barrels are cheap, and if I was to start...

375 cal barrel twist and projectiles?

Hi all, I've been a bit of a lurker on here for years now, thought it was time to come out of the closet and ask a question...! I am thinking of building a 375 Cheytac, or a varient of this such as an Allen Magnum. My question is, what is the current thinking on the correct barrel twist...
