This is just my opinion, but many calibers can hunt out to 600 yards. And I'm not sure where you hunt. But using myself as an example. I have been in texas open plain area and seen nice whitetail from a tree stand. I ranged it just around 627ish yards out. Did not take the shot. I could not hold...

So far the Retumbo has worked for me using 160 grain Nosler Accubond. The RL33 would be another consideration.

Steyr, your 100 percent correct the two round are very similar all around, the Lapua is just a bit faster and uses a bit more power. But with that said, as I had discussed for some time with my gunsmith, the Lapua Brass is a much a better brass and holds up a lot longer life than the others...

So far this is my test trget at 100 yards with the bullet seated 50 thousands off the lands. I've tried further down but not as good, slightly wider spread.

Here are some photo's of the the rifle and a loaded round next to a 264 Win Mag I was able to get 3375-3400 FPS so far, Dave was able to achieve 3500, but he at a much higher altitude. Common guys 250 shot barrel life are you kidding, I was hoping for just 75.:rolleyes:
