What town in CenLa? Mom is from Cane River, about 15 miles south of Natchitoches. And you're right, there used to be very few deer in a large area of Central La, even though the landscaped "looks" right for deer. Great story!

Fantastic!!! My 15yo son hunts with me all the time, but I can’t get my 12yo daughter to come with me. One of these days I guess. Such a fantastic memory for you two!!!

I hunt in the Piedmont area of SC and before that, northern Louisiana. I’ve always been a fan of the 308. My son got his first rifle last year and it’s a 270. I think both are perfect for our hunts, which are up to 200yd shots.
