you would think that a setup like he mentioned that both end caps must be welded . if it was screwed endcap and you removed the body then you just broke the ATF Law .. like on my YHM the end cap threads are 1.375X24 threads

depends on the Varmint your shooting & the bullet combo but on my 16 inch barrels they are a 500 yds and in , sweet spot 200 to 350 yds for me . TS2

i use this one on my Bushnell XRS scopes .

if you do ffp and 34 mm tubes the Bushnell XRS scopes are hard to beat for glass and the dollar , I use 2 of them XRS on PD rifles i put together .

for what your asking just buy a stoner , palmetto state or something used for a blaster upper , if your wanting a moa barrel it will be in the 250 & up on money , if your want to try to build to light weight go with a 14.5 pen & weld
