The Tract UHD 30mm 4-20x50 FFP MOA with the illuminated reticle looks like a great scope at $1294 MSRP. All of the tests I have read and watched on Youtube look promising. I wish that I had some extra funds right now to get one and try it out.
Your rifles will do just about anything that you need to do in North America. What is it that you want to do with this rifle? I don't have a problem giving you my opinion about what I would get, but I don't know what it is that you want to do. Based on what you have, the .338 would be your best...
I don't have any recent experience in heavy hunting pressure. Any time that I have set up a blind we kill a deer or two out of it every year and that's it. Some blinds don't get one deer killed out of them some years. Also, we kill mostly young deer. I'm a meat hunter. I don't care about antlers...
I don't worry about camouflage with stuff like permanent blinds as the animals who are around them every day will get used to them no matter what color they are, but if you want to make them camo'd you can use regular paint over top of the truck bed liner too. The liner is just to make it...
I am not an expert on the rifles. I just know what I know by looking at the website. I just wouldn't buy a long range rifle with a 22" barrel, especially if I am paying premium dollars for it. If I am grabbing a used rifle somewhere on a good deal, then maybe. But, if I am buying a new rifle...
For your deer bling you can use whatever is cheapest. You have to remember that this stuff is made to withstand some pretty rough treatment. If you're just counting on it to repel rain and moisture and withstand someone walking around on it with rubber soled shoes its going to see a lot less...
I agree 100%. I would not worry about getting out to 1000 yards. This will be my 31st season hunting and I have never taken a shot on any animal that could not have been taken well inside of 1,000 yards.
That 6.5 Creedmoor will do the trick for certain. That 156 grain Berger loaded at 2660 fps...
I wouldn't try this during the season because of the smell, but truck bed liner on all exposed wood will stop that problem with rot. You can carpet the heck out of the inside of that thing after you apply the truck bed liner to all of the exposed wood.
In one of my other hobbies I breed LARGE...
Does anyone know why Leupold discontinued the illuminated reticle in this scope?
The scope is 11.90 inches long and weighs 23.60 ounces. I couldn't imagine a better scope to put on a mountain rifle than this scope, but they don't offer illumination in the front focal plane tactical milling...
As the story goes, my stepfather's uncle shot a kangaroo at 800 yards with an M1 Garand when he was in the merchant marines LOL. Stories like that, and I won't lie...seeing the movie "Sniper" with Tom Beringer when I was a kid, made me want to shoot stuff way over yonder. I'm at a point in my...
Even if you're not thrilled with the scope, it will do until you can get something better. Also, it will serve as a great back up scope once you replace it. You can never go wrong with having an extra scope laying around. It gives you an excuse to buy another rifle LOL.
Do you have to seat the 195s deeper in order to accommodate the standard chamber? I don't have any experience with the 7mm projectiles. I just thought that they would be the same as the 30 caliber variety. I may stand corrected on this one.
0.3 is certainly a solid grouping. I guarantee that I...
