7-300 Norma Mag Improved. IT’S ALIVE!!

I had a 300NM with a bit of an oversized chamber. Not horrible but the brass had to be shot once in order to get good SD's and good group sizes (SD 30+ down to 7 and group of 1" down to sub 3/8"). During a demonstration we went thru a wide range of bullet weights and velocities. First thing I...

7-300 Norma Mag Improved. IT’S ALIVE!!

The 33xc, as is, is being used to determine if current projectile design will accomplish specific goals. It will also be used to create another set of data points to determine if we have succeeded in reduced throat/barrel wear. Twist rates will have to change to optimize the projectile. All of...

    Fine spherical rubber bits. LOL.

7-300 Norma Mag Improved. IT’S ALIVE!!

Real as you can get. Test bed for sure. The current brass for 33xc is the "base" starting point and is projected to be modified significantly to make this a success. It is also a material test bed as 150-200rd life is not acceptable. One of the advantages to our barrel is its cooling capacity...

Yep- 7-33xc. Dies and reamers are on order.

Post your .22LR target pics, please! 😁

A barrel that is not a solid round rod with a bore in it. It is a coaxially drilled pattern around the center bore (think of flutes that are closed). It will have a starting format structure, a secondary followed by the deep hole drilled sections. It is stiffer (50%+) per weight as a standard...

Post your .22LR target pics, please! 😁

    • Vudoo .22--- with Structured Barrel "The first 10-rounds with the SK were one hole. One thing became very obvious to me is the ES/SD impact shows immediately, but that was it. The rifle wants put everything in the same hole. It's like watching a video game through the scope. No recoil, no...

    Accuracy build help

As a note: we have been challenged (Thoughts on Structured Barrels) for a "data" and extended groups. We are starting at 30rd groups. Our 6xc was shown at 40rds (shown) , 300Norma x30rds (shown), etc.... We expect to take those values into the 50's to 100 values before drift shows up. This gun...

    Accuracy build help

JP makes excellent buffer assemblies, bolt carriers, barrel extensions... guns. This build uses the first three noted items (Silent Captured Buffer, Standard weight bolt carrier) and runs "like a sewing machine". Very quiet gun on target. AR10 .260Rem Aero upper and lower Vortex Gen ll 3-18...

    Prairie Dog Rifle Question…

Thank you. An in-depth comment is always of supreme value. The expansion contraction- wholeheartedly agree. Whole heartedly agree with the "detail" in a barrel as compared to a lifter face. My thought about the crankshaft is the treated vs untreated in bearing failure. I find your discussion...

    Prairie Dog Rifle Question…

Interesting: this is not an argument. A search for performance. How can lack of or improved hardness of a bore not effect life? Not the same application but- Chromed liner barrels? Could part of the failure be bad surface prep or contamination of the barrel? Does any one know the Ra value of...

    Prairie Dog Rifle Question…

We cryo all of our barrels: a) reduced stress b) more consistent machining processes c) harmonically superior d) surface toughness is theoretically improved due to realignment of the base structure If it did not work- automotive manufacturers would drop it in a split second due to costs. Every...

    Prairie Dog Rifle Question…

6.5T ... after that the shooter is a bit quiet... Though he notes this is the only combo that they have found to successfully shoot this round. He might be being careful with the info due to pressure/velocity value being executed.

    Prairie Dog Rifle Question…

A different take: This is a .223 shooting a 90gr A-Max 2783. A PRS rig. My focus- of course - is the structured barrel: High string count: we don't see group migration on a 6mm until after 40+rounds. Extremely forgiving load development: ladder test are only really used for SD. Bullet jump for...

6.5 PRC 156gr Berger EOL twist dilemma

Shorter barrels do not reduce rpm. A 8T is one turn in 8". Two turns in 16". However- velocity becomes a unit of time. If I move a greater distance in a standard time (lets say 1sec) more revolutions will have occurred in that unit of time.
