If you are considering a approximately 20 ounces weight optic I would seriously check the March 3-24 x 42 mm .
Tactical 3-24 x 42 FFP
I just bought a March F 3-24 x 52mm.

It is the belt length on the brass guys.
It is easy to make all the belts the same with a Wilson case trimmer and proper cutter.
Get the Wilson magnum gauge to measure cases.

Check the neck diameter first .
The 7 mm Weatherby chamber neck is tighter than the 7 mm Remington chamber.

I would use the Remington brass to make 7 mm Weatherby cases then load and fire form .
Actually I...
Look at the cost of a Jim Borden rifle.
When you order a custom rifle with the best parts available from a proven maker expect to pay for the quality received.
You will get exactly what you paid for.
Nuff said.

That Lapua .300 brass is discontinued stock if you can find any.
It was made by Norma for Lapua.
You can run .300 Win thru your .338 die with out the expander assembly to set the shoulders back to match your chamber .
Then trim case to -.025 less than the neck length of the chamber ...
Thank you very much for that great article.
I have been waiting to see what new reticles that March uses on the March-F 3x-24×42
and I am also looking at the 2.5x-25x .
My second concern is low light performance ....
Both would be solved I believe by actually looking thru one in various...

Thank you.
Any further load information such as bullets used and COL would be great.
Also comments on current lots of Winchester brass would be appreciated.

RSI Pressure Trace would work...
The first Japanese Weatherby MK. V that I had in 7 MM Weatherby was chambered so that the 160 Nosler was seated to the base of the neck had a .025 jump to the lands.
This rifle shot everthing well with the factory 160 shooting .3 for 5 at 100 yards off rest.
72.6 gr MRP and the run out was...
I think the comparison would be much more interesting if one barrel was chambered for 7 mm Weatherby and the other 7-300 Win.
The 7mm Weatherby has tight chamber specs -great brass and easy to get quality dies.
There is much good loading data at different levels .
The 7-300 is most used...
QuickDesign would be usefull to spec out cases and chambers also.
I have it but need to work somemore with it to be comfortable using it.
Remember to spend the time and effort to use these programs properly.
This one would be good cartridge to try nitride treating the barrel.

H-870 works very well in 7mm Rem Mag with 160-175 Nosler bullets.
The velocity and accuracy are very good.
I have worked up hunting loads in the same cold weather using Fed 215 primers with the 160 Nosler @ 3076 f.p.s.
One note -use a good cronograph while working up loads and do not...
