I really like my MDT Field Stock. Comes with a bottom bolt release button Ang room for the barrel to cool well.

I like my 300 Norma out to 2200 yards and 6.5 PRC inside 1600. PRC gets the most use lately but a 223 REM bolt is great wind practice at 750.

My second favorite thing about Hammers: ran out Tue, ordered Wed afternoon…on my step this morning. First is mule deer fall-always. Working up for a new rifle with 6.5 123 Absulotes. Full disclosure, only 2 states away.

I use a 26” 9 twist savage to practice at 450 yards when I am letting a barrel cool while working loads on other guns. Long throat for 2.420 COAL 75 BTHP. Fun ringing steel during load development.

Great explanation of pc's influence, but I see both supersonic (m1.0) and transonic (~m1.15) discussed. That can be apples and oranges at elr ranges.

I had the same issue with j my 300 NM. The Wilson trimmer can ream inside the neck with an additional reamer tool. Works great.

Measure your bolt head lugs. The mag lugs are thicker than a standard 308 size. The stem is longer also. Savage SA WSM factory are control feed. You'll need to gey a modified lon action bolt head and foring pin. Sharp Shooter Supply does it. I'm in the same process now.

Back to the original thought, Savage 16 standard or large shank? Savage moved WSM cases to a large shank barrel with more metal for a reason. Maybe just lawyers. Also changing bolt head to a .535 is more than 1 part swap. Quoting the Mrs... "Just sayin'".

My Argos BTR 8-34 x 50 tracks perfectly. Tall target test was right on, mils to 1 mile are close. It holds up to 300 Norma recoil fine. Downside is clarity, maybe higher end models have better glass. I swapped out to a Vortex Razor HD at a much higher price. Argos is worth it's price though.
