How much Energy is needed to take an hog ?

Are you allowed, by chance, to say who the other person from here in Ardmore is? Just curious if I know them.

How much Energy is needed to take an hog ?

OK. I grew up near Lawton, Ok. Born in Pampa, Tx. and now live in Ardmore, Ok. I agree, regarding the single-set trigger! I wish every rifle had that feature. Combined with their inherent out-of-the-box accuracy, the single-set trigger makes the CZs some fine shooting production rifles.

Nice work!Is that a CZ? I shoot a CZ 527 American for the close work. By the way, the vehicle license and the landscape look like south Texas. I spent 5 years in Carrizo Springs.

How much Energy is needed to take an hog ?

On larger boars, or hogs at 200 yds. plus, I have had a few run a ways before dieing, but when I do my part and strategically place it right behind the ear, a frangible bullet traveling at 4,200+ fps creates devastating hydrostatic pressure anywhere near the jugular or brain. With larger...

    prairie coyote gun

Here in south-central Oklahoma we are typically in or near brush, so most shots are 100 yds. and closer. A lot of walking between sets, so I like lightweight handy rifles. I prefer Hornady V-Max for safety reasons. Doesn't ruin the hides, but the highly frangible bullets will not shoot through...

Browning Cynergy 12 ga. #4 Turkey loads Don't have a picture of the gun, but here are a couple of its victims. First one chasing two hen turkeys in front of me at 40 yds. Second one at 10 yds. in brush.

How much Energy is needed to take an hog ?

Not much. Most of my hogs are taken with a .204 Ruger shooting .32 gr. V-Max factory loads from Hornady. CZ 527 American rifle. Have killed several with .17 HMR Shot placement is everything. Place it in the soft spot behind the ear and even 200 lb. hogs @ 100 yds. will drop. A friend from...

    .243 for hogs?

Have killed many, many hogs with .204 Ruger. Put it behind their ear and it doesn't require a cannon. That being said, a .243 Winchester Mod. 70 Featherweight wreaked the havoc in the picture below.
