    Savage 338 Lapua barrel swap

Actually according to Savage the Lapua large shank is the same as any other large shank. Anyone have a large shank long action non Lapua they can check hardness on? I can check the hardness on my Lapua action.

Right, I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea but am curious nonetheless. Does anyone know what chamberings came with large shank long action, aside from the 338 LM?

I'm 99% sure hes trying to put a 338 lm barrel on a small shank long action.

I looked into this awhile back, and the general consensus was running a small shank savage action wasn't a great idea with the 338 LM. I'm curious though

Man this comes as a shock to me. I've talked with Jason many times in person and he always seemed like a good dude. Hopefully George can keep the business rolling.

I don't have any kill info on the 275 sbd2 yet, but I did take them out to 1660m and put 3 consecutive on a 30 " plate at the range, then 2 more on a rock at about 1800m. I don't know how they grouped (couldn't drive out with other people still shooting at the range) but it seemed like they were...

That's pretty good I'd say! Just curious, how well does the colored bullets and white paper method work?

Whether or not I test more probably will depend on how they do at distance, generally I like to dial a load in as best as i can if time permits. Honestly I feel like the load development on these from the 270s was too easy (maybe i got lucky?). I took my load for the 270s, knocked it down 2...

Interesting, I tried .020" jump and they seemed to like it. I've yet to test at distance but they formed a nice .6 moa group. Maybe I should try more jump.
