    First dogs of the year

So the weather here in NE Wyoming was fantastic this past weekend. And I had permission to shoot on private property. So 3 of us went out to shoot. Me, the GF and a work buddy. Sunday was 63 degrees and almost no wind. We got to the ranch about noon and got setup. As we were driving in there...

Ok, I gotta ask...where do I get a barrel chambered? Or can I order a prefit barrel for a savage from someone in a 338 sherman

first prairie dog hunt and need info

Big areas of western SoDak were placed off limits to prairie dog hunting by the feds a few years ago. Mostly north of Belle Fourche on the grass lands. I've been told that some SoDak ranchers are also using poison to kill the pd's off. It's legal in SoDak but not in NE, so some ranchers go to SD...

Looking for a good gunsmith in mn

I've used Mark Miller Gunsmithing in Montgomery Mn for several builds. He's a one man shop so it wont be fast but his quaility is good. So far he's built me a 20 practical, and a 280 ackley improved. Both are shooters. He's building my new 6.5 creedmoor in a chassis. He's closed sunday and...

100 YD Zero at 5 degree incline

Heres an easy tip for angle finding if you have a smart phone. Get an angle app for it, most are free and use that for angle finding. How? Turn the phone on it s side and sight down the edge at you target from as close to the same position as you will be shooting from. Read the angle from the...

    Quickload Question

I talked to Neco this morning and yes you have to upgrade to get this. But, at this time they don't have the numbers to put into the program to add these new powders. They have to get those from the real manufacturer of the powder, not Hodgdon, someone from Australia. So until that company...

    Feedback on steel pin tumbling

I also did the harbor freight tumbler a couple of years ago. My experience in a machine shop years ago with steel shot tumbling to clean parts made me a bit wary because this will always peen the parts from the media. So I went harbor freight for a couple of reasons. first I'm cheap and second...

    25-06 or ??

Uhh this is really easy. Well I should say that finding a 25 cal barrel is easy, finding one prechambered won't be. If you are open to contours they are out there and easy to find. Lilja and Brunos have barrels in stock in a #3 and #4 contour.

Prairie dog hunting outfitters in MT

I was told just the other day that the area between Terry MT and Hettinger ND along the railroad tracks has a lot of Pdogs this year. In MT if you shoot state land you will need the state permit which is 10 bucks per head. I don't have an outfitters name though.

    Remington 700 Long Range - 25-06

What he means is how far the bullet is from touching the lands. When you reload it is helpful to know if your gun will shoot better with the bullet a certain distance from the lands. You will see this referred to as jump sometimes. Like the COAL for my gun is 3.255 with a .020 jump. Many times...
