Something we all should be worried about.

Republicans=Democrats. The only difference is, Ds openly hate us, while Rs pretend to protect us right up to the moment we elect them. Then we get stabbed in the back. DJT was the first President in at least 50 years who actually worked for the American people and not for DC political...

    Extra bullet carrying options

MTM ammo wallet. I wanted the exact same thing you're looking for and this fits the bill. Hard case, thin and holds about 10 rounds. Just make sure you get the right size. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1015182311?pid=465849

Sightron scopes ---- any good ?

Ive got the STAC 2.5-10 with the duplex reticle on a 7mm08, Love it. STAC 3-16 sits on my 308 truck gun, it has great glass, but the LOOONNGG eye relief means I have to change up my scope ring setup a bit. Finally I have a 4-20 STAC on my 280 Rem with the MOA3 reticle. I personally like the...

    Another Boot Thread

I have no good advise on boot brands, and know your hunt is next year, but: Right now I have about 15" of snow on the ground and another 10-15" in the forecast for this weekend when season opens... lows around -1F Saturday night. This isnt unusual, but neither is +50F around this time of year...

    147 ELD M and 6.5CM

I love the ELD-M, but NOT for short shots. In my timber rifle where I expect short shots (all below 200 yds) then I load Partitions. Edit: To clarify, if your impact velocity is expected to be over about 2600 fps, there are better bullets than the ELD-M.

    7mm-08 for elk

My 7-08 is my light mountain rifle that I take in the thicker timber areas where a long shot is 300 yards. I shoot 150 Partitions over 42 gr Varget and its a killer at 2740fps in a 22" Tikka t3x. If you expect longer shots, the 162 ELD-M is my go to bullet in my 280.

    Cases?

I was just looking for the Boyt Harness Co cases link when the above was posted. Have a Pelican and a Boyt, for my purposes they are equal https://boytharness.com/product/h51-double-long-gun-case-2/

    Guns of the same caliber

Same caliber or same cartridge? For same caliber, I run 7-08, 280Rem and a 7RM as I love the .284s. Lets you get a bunch of the same diameter bullets in all sorts of weights, and usually have at least one rifle that will make the most of them. As far as the same cartridge goes, only when the...

Starting out a young shooter, who's left eye dominant. Got questions..

CodyAdams has good advice. Im naturally southpaw since my days running around with a BB gun. Ive never owned a left handed rifle and really cant say it holds me back. I did shoot a cousin's left hand rifle once and instinctively went with my "wrong" hand to cycle the bolt, muscle memory. It...

Match bullets for long range big game hunting

If I was to take a guess, it is because the vast majority of people are hunting at distances where the use of a match bullet would be detrimental. Average Joe grabs a box of eldms and shoots a deer at 30 yds from his tree stand, he's going to likely not have a good experience.

Match bullets for long range big game hunting

Many of the otherwise excellent hunting bullets have limited or sometimes near zero expansion at long range/low velocity. I've had many simply pencil through, leaving small entrance and exit holes with little blood trail. a match bullet will dump all it's energy into the animal, rarely with an...

Match bullets for long range big game hunting

Ive read Nathan Foster's books as well and agree with his observations. As mentioned above, heavy for caliber is key as well as paying very close attention to impact velocity. I use ELD-M in my various .284 bore rifles for long range work. Years before reading his books I shot a mule deer at...

Look at the Difference in Brass Softness!

I personally use Norma with good results, for all my .284 cartridges. The only issue I ever had with it was shallow primer pockets on about 50 of 100 cases in a single box for my 280Rem. ADG has 7RM brass too.

6,5 Creedmoor selection of barrel length

I just checked my load book, my 16" 308 (rem 700 sps tactical 1:10) is shooting 168 eld m at 2620fps on 45.6gr of varget. This is with the same suppressor as the one used for the 6.5. My 22" tikka is launching 150 nosler partitions at 2755fps from 42.1gr of varget. This is my unsuppressed...

6,5 Creedmoor selection of barrel length

This rifle is a Weatherby Vanguard Weatherguard with 20" barrel, suppressed with an 8" can. New Hornady brass that I had on hand- plan to redo a test when my Lapua brass gets here...someday... The pressure test: 1 round at each charge weight up until hitting max pressure. So keep in mind this...
