What am I seeing in my barrel?

I've got ten each of rhe best two charges from my last bit of load testing for the savage loaded up. I cleaned the weird slag out if the recoil lug slot area and I also have a new swfa scope arriving tomorrow to mount on it to replace the $70 bushnell it came with. We'll see how it does this...

What am I seeing in my barrel?

Those pits in the savage are really pits. I put more cleaner through it and flushed it with brake cleaner. Still there

What am I seeing in my barrel?

Here's my Tikka. I gave it the same procedure except I only did 1 round of 15 strokes. There may still be a touch of a ring at the case mouth area, but it looks good enough for me. My throat still looks surprisingly good! Pictures include the chamber end, lands, and throat.

What am I seeing in my barrel?

Here's the savage. I did two rounds of pb blaster and JBs. Wrapped an oversized patch around a nylon brush correctly sized for bore and covered with pb blaster and JBs. I did 13 strokes (26 counting both ways) each round. Pictures include the chamber end, leade/lands, throat, and scary...

What am I seeing in my barrel?

Thanks for all the replies and advice! I definitely don't plan on cleaning or scrubbing my bores any more than I usually do. In fact, I may just quit cleaning them again since I now have a borescope to educate myself on the efficacy of my cleaning efforts when the bore is really dirty! I've...

Bullet change and more copper fouling

Yes. I'm still working on the first box. And I'm pretty sure my three boxes are the same lot

What am I seeing in my barrel?

I'm not too worried about the cross hatches in the Tikka or the drill marks in the savage. So long as they shoot as well as I need then it's all good!! I just got the borescope because I wanted to learn what is going on in there. I hope to not cause myself any unnecessary stress and anxiety!

Bullet change and more copper fouling

I did shoot more Sierras after using the JBs and the amount of copper pickup was the same. So I don't think the use of JBs nullified my breaking in the barrel early on. After I work my way through some of this virgin starline and then fire it again, if I see the same results of virgin causing...

What am I seeing in my barrel?

Is it there and visible when the barrel is new or does it become apparent through shooting it? We'll see how it does after I get the carbon out

Looking for a new caliber please help. Lol

For reliability, quality finish, and best likelihood of getting a good shooting factory rifle, go with a short action cartridge Tikka. The factory stock is much stiffer than others and the trigger is very crisp with no creep and can be adjusted down to 2.5lbs. I have heard the Ruger American...

    High Uintas

It's big enough country you'll be able to to find places to hunt without running into people. Just get a couple miles off the trail or go to a place that no one else would have any business being in. Weather is schizophrenic up there. But, it will likely be cold at night and cool during the...

Bullet change and more copper fouling

On the second batch of 25 rounds I used the same brass as the first batch... So the second batch was second firing

What am I seeing in my barrel?

Ahh I see. Thanks for the extra pictures! I was thinking that the chamber end just has a pronounced edge. Mine does just fine as is for 400-500 yard elk size vitals. I'll probably scrub it out just to see if the fliers go away.

So Will the .270 Win Overtake the CM's and PRC's?

No it won't. Hornady will make a 270PRC and it will become the coolest thing around 😞
