Too much powder? Beginner needs some help!!

[ QUOTE ] The diff's are probably more in the barrels they tested them in. HOdgdon might have actually tested in a barrel with freebore. There are alot of people having custom guns made up nowadays. Some people are having them made without freebore and this TOTALLY changes the volatility of...

Too much powder? Beginner needs some help!!

Anyone know if the discrepancy between Hogdon's and Barnes would have to do with the type of bullet tested? Hogdon's used a Speer not a Barnes. I thought that since they were the same weight bullet they would take close to the same charge.

    Barnes TSX load data

Does anyone else find Barnes published load data on the TSX a little low? I checked their 30-378 data for a 180TSX using Retumbo t be very low. I'm shooting 111grn of Retumbo behind the 180 TSX with no signs of excessive pressure and a velocity of 3450.

    100 yd ladder test?

Is it worthwhile to do a ladder test at 100yds? It seems that most on here are done at 300yds.

    Best way to set COL

New to handloading and am loading for my 30-378. There are several different COL's listed in the resources I have consulted. I hear you can customize it for your gun by leaving it long and trying to close the bolt and if it doesn't go, seat it deeper until it just does close. Not sure if that...
