    .338 LM barrel Twist- 1-9, 9.5 or 10

The gain twist is meant for lathe turned solids such as the Moeller LM105 or GC Custom bullets with driving bands. I aggree that a jacketed bullet may strip - I will be machining a spare barrel so I can use LM105 bullets specifically (single fed).

    .338 LM barrel Twist- 1-9, 9.5 or 10

Hi Tiff personally I would opt for 1-9 to be safe, dont think you will over stabilise 300g in this barrel.. I have 1-9 and at present am using 250g Lock Base - excellent accuracy out to 780mtrs (farthest shot so far) I se Bartlein have introduced the transitional barrel now (starts...

6.5x284 Hornady sst 140 grn Info required

Robert 140g SST works well on red stags 49g H4350 gives me 2900fps and 1/2" groups at 100 48.5g H4831sc similar. You could substitute Vit 160 for 4831sc as it is "similar" in burn rate, but be careful, these are safe in my rifle - may be not in yours.

    My .300wsm Build

Looks like you could easily go to work as a gunsmith if you decided to leave the machinist job - hey aren't they in essence the same thing? I have built a few rifles for myself, I started out with no machining experience (except from high school about 20 yrs ago) I read lots of books and...

    Surgeon Action Bolt Stop

The action was coated prior to barrelling for the simple reason I had two actions that needed doing and my guy was about to spend 6 weeks on a hunt in NZ, so I got the actions done first as I wanted the completed rifles to be shootable - I didnt want to take a "in the white" action out into wet...

    Surgeon Action Bolt Stop

I get most of my rifles Duracoated, by a guy who has been trained by Lauer (makers of Duracoat) The Surgeons were coated prior to barrelling (all componants including bolt stop, bolt shroud, handle, bolt body and action) The colour in this photo is parkerised with a black bolt shroud and...

    Surgeon Action Bolt Stop

The Surgeon is easy to assemble, so long as you have the right tools. I have built a couple of rifles on Surgeon S/A and am ongoing a build on a XL at the moment. You must remember that the action comes in the white and will need coating of some kind before final assembly of componants...

    Manners GAT Stock

The GAT is an excellent choice if you want a mix of tactical and sporter. I have one and it suits my requirements. Tom was very good to deal with and ive ordered other stocks from him since I got the GAT. They are extremely durable and well made although not a drop in little alteration is...

    Lambeth/Kiff Micrometer Adjustable Reamer Stop

Nat thanks for bearing with me, I understand perfectly now and see the benefits! Could I ask if you use a roughing reamer and then a finish reamer or just chamber with the finisher?

    Lambeth/Kiff Micrometer Adjustable Reamer Stop

Nat I am at the beginning of a long journey into doing my own barrel work, I am familiar with the principles and techniques of chambering but have not done so yet in practice. I asked the question as a layman, not out of any critisism for your idea. I posted as I am currently...

    Lambeth/Kiff Micrometer Adjustable Reamer Stop

Rusty I see the advantages of using this with a throating reamer to cut a specific throat length, but would there be any benefit to using this tool over a tailstock mounted dial guage for normal chambering? I ask as I am collecting an inventory of "must haves" for doing my own chambering...

    PDA and software

Another vote for Perry Systems Exbal and Palm (T3) never had a problem but I do make sure the hand held is kept in an inside pocket so the battery doesn't get exposed to cold.
