Why? I use Accubonds and LOVE them. 10+ big, northern heavy deer DRT, without another step. Can't be unhappy about the bonded bullet experience.

Max range for this hunt 400yds. Could shot further but no need to. I can get as close as necessary. Haven't shot an elk yet but my 308 Accubonds have straight dropped ALL deer I have shot with them. First elk hunt (cow tag), gonna use either 6.5/284 or 7mm Rem Mag. Opinions on using 140gr AB or VLD in 6.5/284 or 140 AB or 168 VLD in 7mm (assuming accuracy is equal in all rounds), which would you use? Rolly

I have had tremendous luck with the 180gr AB's in my 308 from Black Hills. I'm a little bias since I live in Rapid City where Black Hills is made and have access to this stuff pretty readily, but I shoot ONLY Black Hills in my 223 ar and 308 bolt gun. I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut, you will love the AB's. My predictions are you will like them more at the dope'd down FPS (long range equivalences), but they still have real world applications at less than long range hunting ranges (100-200yds). At closer ranges I compare them to a soft point...

I shoot the 180 AB's in my 308 currently and after seeing the 100-350 yd terminal performance, don't have any valid reason to consider anything else. If they made a bullet that performed the same at 100yds and 600yds, I'd unwrinkle my forehead. Until then, I just keep loading game into the back...
