    Proper pack adjustment

I get into the pack, snug the shoulder straps a bit so I can shrug my shoulders and lift the pack up. I do this and then fasten and tighten the waistbelt so it is centered on my iliac crests. Then I will loosen the shoulder straps and the load lifters. I re-snug the shoulder straps, but not...

    Rifle Carry Options

We had a guy take a butt bucket off another pack and add it to our pack. He compressed his rifle with the Talon on the outboard side of the pack bag, but the butt dropped below the pack. That's a pet peeve of mine as well because I've used that system in the past. I like the center of the...

    Rifle Carry Options

Hi guys, I'd like to get some feedback from the long range crowd on rifle carry. In the past I've used a Kifaru Gunbearer setup but never got used to it or liked it. I typically just put the rifle butt in the side water bottle pocket and compress it, like this: But obviously this has a...

Need advice for Colorado elk hunt

Yeah, and if you pitch your tent on a bit of a sidehill it will keep you from rolling off the mountain during the night....:D

    Recommendations on bivy tent

I've got a LBO from Seek Outside. It's pretty dang cool. I can use it as a tarp or a tarp with a vestibule to make it fully enclosed, and I can put a nest in it to keep all bugs out. I can also pitch it with another base tarp and a connector tarp to make it into a 4-6 man shelter that is wood...

    Rifle Weight Vs. Distance capability...

This is an interesting question. I'm on a lot of BP hunting forums, and most folks like lighter rifles, but lighter rifles aren't as nice at long ranges. There is a fine balance there. I have a Kimber Montana 270 WSM with a 3-10 Swaro that I'd feel comfortable with to 500-600, and pac-nor...

What do you use as a lightweight ground cloth in your floorless shelter?

I use tyvek. There are a lot of stores online that will sell you custom cut sizes. Arrowhead Equipment does I think, and I know that Zpacks used to as well.

    What pack?

Is this for backpacking or just for hauling gun and gear on dayhunts? Will the same pack be needed for packing meat?

Need advice for Colorado elk hunt

Coach J, I'm an hour west of Nashville and went on my first elk hunt to CO last year. I did a solo, DIY, OTC tag, public land, archery backpack hunt and wound up killing a nice 6X6 about 3.5 miles in on day 5 after relocating camp three times to get on them. What questions do you have...

    Kelty cache hauler

I disagree with Daveinjax on this one....I've had 9 different Kifaru packs in the past, and the Kelty Cache Hauler smokes them all on heavy loads in my experience and testing. I've done a lot of heavy load testing over the last spring and winter, and the Kelty CH is one of the two the most...
