I have a R700 varmint that I had cut down to 20". I use RL 15 in combination with 165gr Sierra SBT's. I get around 2550fps with an average .307" center to center at 100yds.

I'm really interested in the 180gr performance on deer. Per Knowledge Base the 180 at 308 speeds is a very good combo.

Sierra has a new .30 cal. 135gr hp specifically for varmint/predator hunting. From I read it should be fur friendly.

Michael, with the the XCR Compact what load are you using for hunting?

I use Winchester brass and primers, 168gr SGK over 44grs of Reloader 15.

Oh i know what it will do but its no concern to me as i normally don't shoot prone.

Last Christmas my daughter bought me a Buck 135 Paklite Caper. I used it yesterday to gut one buck then skin it, and debone it. Held a nice edge thecwhole time.

Haven't shot it prone yet. Have only shot it off thd bench and shooting rail on a ladder stand.

On my 300 WM i have a Shrewd muzzle brake. Very effective and wallet friendly.
