For that scope and intended use, I say go with the higher magnification. If this were a scope of lesser quality, I would say to stick with the lower magnification, because the higher magnification would not be as useful in a cheap scope.

All the scopes you have mentioned are really nice, and I think any of them would serve you well. We have a 30 day full refund (as long as the condition of the scope is the same) if you don't like something.

We've only had the Gen 1 come through our shop. I thought it was extremely good, especially for the price. Glass preferences seem to vary from person to person. Personally, I would be fine with the Cronus.

Nevrsummr is correct about the tube sizes. These are both really nice scopes. Two things that I found remarkable about them: - The Swarovski has a clever adjustable ballistic turret that you can customize to your rifle and ammo. - The Zeiss has fantastic illumination.

We have both for sale. They're both really nice, so it is splitting hairs. The Mark 5 HD is noticeably lighter, if that matters to you. 30.2 oz vs 41.6 oz for these particular models.

In my opinion, your gut is correct. The ATACR is enough magnification for your needs. The quality of the ATACR magnification should compensate for the lesser amount of magnification between your two choices. The NX8 seems very durable. But, "Built like a tank," does not come to mind like it...
